FAQ's

What is the Whitelion Three Peaks Challenge?

The Three Peaks Challenge is designed to test your resilience and perseverance. Over two days—33 hours to be exact—you’ll summit three of Australia’s tallest mountains. Sure, we walk—but it’s no walk in the park.
Once you become a challenger, you not only commit to climbing three mountains—you also commit to raising money for at-risk youth. All the funds raised in the lead-up to the Three Peaks Challenge will be donated to Whitelion, a community charity committed to opening doors for disadvantaged young people.

Is the Three Peaks Challenge a timed event?

Our aim is for all participants to complete all peaks within 33 hours, but it is not a timed event. All challengers pledge to ensure all climbers complete the Three Peaks Challenge.

How much does it cost to enter?

Registration costs $350 including flights and accommodation. Once you register, you’ll also commit to raising at least $1,250 for Whitelion. All donations are tax-deductible, and we encourage you to approach your company to contribute by matching what you are able to fundraise.

What’s included in the registration fee?

The $350 registration fee covers your transport from either Melbourne or Sydney, accommodation, meals (excluding the final dinner and breakfast in Bright) and water, training sessions, and support crew.

I don’t live in either Melbourne or Sydney, can I still participate?

Yes! The registration fee allows for travel from either Melbourne or Sydney, however, if there are places available in either event you are welcome to join by getting yourself to and from the point of origin of your choice. Contact the Whitelion Events Team on events@whitelion.asn.au for more information.

When can I register?

Registration is open until 5pm on the 15th of March, 2018 or until sold out.

If registrations are closed, can I still register someone to join me?

Unfortunately, when the event is sold out, it’s sold out. However, please do get them to email the Whitelion Events Team at events@whitelion.asn.au and we can add them to our waitlist should another challenger have to withdraw from the event.

How do I login to My Three Peaks Challenge?

Everyone who has registered for the Whitelion Three Peaks Challenge has an account created for them. On completion of your registration you should have received an email with these details.

Do I need to train for this event?

The short answer is Yes. To prepare for the Three Peaks Challenge, you’ll need to be in peak condition. Sure, it’s only walking, but walking to the top of Australia’s tallest mountains is no walk in the park.

Your goal is to climb 52 kilometres of steep terrain while helping your fellow climbers make the distance. And to do that, you’ll need to train. Every week from mid-January there will be free training sessions around both Melbourne and Sydney, including 1-2 night training sessions.

What happens in the event of bad weather or another unexpected event?

We plan to persevere through, irrespective of rain, however, our guides will monitor conditions closely and if they feel at any time during the event it would be unsafe to proceed the event may be cancelled. No refunds will be provided in this unlikely event. This hasn’t happened at a Three Peaks Challenge to date.

I took some great photos, what should I do with them?

Fabulous! We’d love you to get in touch with us at events@whitelion.asn.au and we can send you a link to upload them for us. We’re always looking for great images for our website and social media. You can also tag us #WLTPC18
